Scarves, Belts, Jewelry, Oh MY!
Hey there friends of fashion, time to talk accessories. If you are up for it you can create any number of, unique to you, outfits simply by using a variety of trimmings. In tighter times, wallet wise, it’s actually a very smart way to grow a wardrobe. For example, take a basic white tee, add a hat, colorful scarf and cool bracelet, and suddenly you have a knockout get up. Why not try a colorful necklace that will draw attention to your neckline. A cool, vintage brooch in a unique and unusual place will add immediate interest to any outfit. Tie your hair back into a chic ponytail and let gorgeous earrings bring the focus up to your face. How about a funky bracelet that jingles when you move or, you can even add a slick pair of sunglasses which will hipasize anything you adorn yourself with. You can customize any look just by adding any of these lively frills.
I once read somewhere: Be wise – accessorize. I couldn’t agree more! Personally, I have to accessorize! Without these added touches I feel like a puzzle with the last piece missing or a work of art left unfinished. Accessories can take your personal style up another level. They ‘finish’ your personal story. You can stick with a few key pieces in your wardrobe and then create look after look with different accessories. Ornaments also have the power to bring attention to your strong points via colors, shapes and designs. They help you individualize your own personal style. And isn’t that what it’s all about?
Now what’s cool about this is there really aren’t any rules to accessorizing. You can; mix metals, wear different colored shoes and handbag, wear a lot, wear a little. The way you accessorize should be a reflection of your personality and compliment what you are wearing.
A few must have that you can add to over time are:
~Hats~
Great for summer or winter
~Scarves~
A hot commodity these days. Love the scarf and so many ways to wear them. A terrific way to add texture and color.
~Jewelry~
Amazing what a little color or bling on the ears or around the neck can do to put the finishing touch. Rings show off beautiful hands and bracelets, great wrists etc
~Coats/Jackets~
We are in Bend after all! Sometimes it’s the only thing people will see as you may never take it off. You can never have too many coats, ask my husband!
The best part is that you can jazz up any ensemble for just a few dollars. An animal print pair of gloves for $15 will make you look and feel like you are wearing a brand new coat. And it never ceases to amaze me…people will notice. In my last article I talked about “thrifting” and what a great way this is to shop during good times and bad. When I go to a thrift store that’s the first thing I seek out….accessories, baubles, bells and whistles, and most times, I’m rewarded with just the addition I was looking for.
